Hey, it's okay to Ginny-bash. She's not evil (much) ... she's not a death eater ... she's just a not-very-nice girl.
Which you leveraged nicely here.
The biggest 'theme' I got out of this was that Harry had grown up ... and Ginny hadn't. Every time Ginny spoke I could see her straight from the pages of books 6 & 7. But Harry, no. He'd matured. Thank goodness! And so Ginny was no longer suitable, natch.
Ginny tended to get catty when she was angry or jealous, and she was clearly both.
Classic canon characterisation!
And having the mock-up engagement pages all ready for the newspaper is quite consistent with a girl who 'never gave up'. No, she'd plough on ahead with her own aspirations - secretly - while waiting for Harry to do the right (by Ginny) thing.
A neat little story, everything falling into place. It's like Harry and Hermione shared our own expectations ... okay, stick with the red-heads for a while after book 7 proper, but once the inertia of the bad writing has run down please find each other thank you very much. :-) And so we have our happy ending - or happy start - yay!
