My light rock station has switched over to Christmas music already. Grrr. It gets earlier every year.

Yeah, it sucks. I like your back home station's policy. It makes sense. I don't want to hear only Christmas music for 2 freaking months. How does that not alienate their Jewish/Muslim/Atheist audience?

How does it not alienate the Christian audience too? ;)

Well, it does, but I'd think it'd be more offensive if you don't even celebrate the holiday that your radio station devotes 2 months of its playlists to.

Oh, I wasn't disagreeing with that. I totally agree. Some of my most cherished holiday memories as a child on the south side of Chicago was playing dreidl and helping my friends pat the latkes and stir applesauce when I went over to their house during Chanukah. And it was very fun last year when I was teaching at an African-American middle school to learn Kwanzaa songs and learn about the meaning of that holiday. :)

But I generally don't like the music that they play during Christmas, anyway. I always listen to choral and orchestral arrangements of hymns and stuff during Christmas myself. (And of course the Peter, Paul, and Mary holiday CD.)
